Design Project Dwight St.

Warm and Cool: A Fresh Makeover

While traditional style has its place, this young couple on Dwight Street wanted to contemporize their home. Together with the client, Swank Design worked to freshen the spaces where we gather, laugh, and commune over a well prepared meal. Playing with both warm and cool tones, our goal was to open the space, while at the same time maintain a cozy atmosphere.

Do not be afraid to mix two slightly different but complementary design styles. By combining modern light fixtures with contemporary accent chairs this dining area is fresh, yet continues to be inviting. Details of greenery and floral contemporary wall art allow the outside to seamlessly integrate into the entertaining area.

Natural colors and blue toned throw pillows bring a relaxed casual texture to this well lit bay window seat. Leave your windows undressed to let more sunlight into your space.

Contemporary homes are ideal for natural colors and materials. A mix of organic wood tones were featured not only in accent pieces, but in the flooring as well. Consider a gradient of dark wood, light tan, and light blues to incorporate an earthy warm yet cool contemporary look.

It's common to think of colors with a goal of warm design. While gold is often associated with a more upscale modern look, it’s hue can also create a feeling of quiet, refined, and thoughtful coziness. Try using gold accents to modernize an atmosphere, yet keep it in the warm tonal family.

Contemporary design is forever changing. We loved creating an aesthetic that’s currently on trend and in the here and now for this young and vibrant family.
